Hi and welcome to Transparent Counseling.
My name is Lauren Roth and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), specializing in both couples and individual counseling. With a holistic approach, I work with my clients to evaluate and challenge their mind, body and emotions. Through the development of external skills and internal growth, I can help my clients achieve lasting positive effects within their relationships as well as within themselves. I work to individualize each client's treatment with a balance of relational therapy, communication and coping skills, somatic/body work, and trauma reprocessing, if necessary. I truly believe people are resilient. When someone is motivated to change, given the opportunity to be understood, validated and compassionately challenged, they can meet their personal goals.
I have a psychodynamic background, which means I gather the whole picture of what brings you here today. This includes a family systems model (what roles did you and your family play in your life that creates values, strengths and stumbling blocks you find in relationships). I also incorporate an attachment model which explores how you developed and how you now build relationships. In addition, I focus on self-awareness and specific skills related to processing trauma. One approach for healing from trauma includes Somatic Experiencing (SE). Training in this type of therapeutic modality has given me the skills to work with how the body holds trauma, stress and other emotions. Please view this link for additional information about SE. http://www.traumahealing.org.
Other approaches I use include; CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for anxious or depressed clients who desire to alter negative thinking; and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) which blends mood stabilization and mindfulness. I also have a certified therapy dog, Ellie who accompanies me if clients are comfortable with her.
